This is a very nice cut glass smelling salts bottle - sterling silver top with a gemstone set into the top. I think it's either a bloodstone or jade - it's very olive color in nature - definitely stone. The top is clearly marked Sterling on the top side of the hinge. The hinge works properly and is tight. The bottle measures 3 3/4 inches long. The top comes off the bottle for cleaning or filling. There is some residue in the bottle but not being an expert in these bottles I choose to leave it as is.
If your looking at this bottle you probably know how to do it much better than me. The leaded glass is very well cut - there are 2 small (minor) chips on the 2nd concave row down. (from the top) I feel that for a piece this old and unique it is minor.
All in all it's pretty cool. Estate find and of course it is the only one I have. Any questions don't hesitate to ask -
